The Importance of being Green

SSS Printing & Publishing take their responsibilities to the environment very seriously and to ensure we are at the forefront of meeting our responsibilities we are well on the way to securing accreditation to ISO14001.

Within traditional printing many processes use chemicals in production and in order to reduce our chemical usage and therefore our footprint on the environment we are actively investing in chemical free technology in our plate making and processing procedures. We are also searching for ways to minimise the use of chemicals in areas which at this stage do not have viable alternatives.

The process of gaining accreditation to ISO14001 involves a comprehensive change in practice but also in mindset, with all staff contributing to minimising how we use and store chemicals used within the business.

In addition to this we are now using more recycled stock in our printing, and exploring the avenue of using eco-friendly inks where practical.

The accreditation process will progressively happen with a series of assessments during late 2009 and 2010 and we look forward to achieving a positive result and a continual progression to a greener environment.
